Kaunertal glacier

Here, snow & ice reign all year round, guaranteeing snow from October to June. The Kaunertal glacier is one of the highest ski areas in Tyrol and will thrill you with its wide, expansive glacier pistes. Lift queues? Wrong!

From setting out in the morning to the last run of the day, it’s very relaxed here. The journey to the ski area is an experience in itself, as the road to the Kaunertal glacier (Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße) winds its way up through 29 hairpin bends to an altitude of 2,750 metres above sea level. The ski area lies between 2,150 m and 3,160 m above seal level, with eight lifts and cable cars, providing snow-seekers with easy access to 30 kilometres of piste and 30 km of ski routes and freeriding. In autumn and spring, snowboarders, freeskiers and freestylers enjoy the best set-up in the Alps.

While you’re carving, jumping or chilling, enjoy the constant views of the Weißseespitze (3,535 m), the valley’s mighty landmark, glaciated to its peak and next to which the ski area nestles.

Fendels ski area

The opportunities provided on the glacier are perfectly complemented by the Fendels family ski area at the entrance of the Kaunertal valley. Guaranteed snow and spacious pistes ensure skiing enjoyment and. Snow - during winter there’s plenty of it in the idyllic mountain village of Fendels, located at the entrance of the Kaunertal valley. While still sunny, it is located at an altitude of 1,356 metres on the snowy northern side of the valley. Within walking distance from the centre of the village is one of the most welcoming family ski areas in Tyrol, which can also be accesseed from Ried via gondola.

Seven lifts and cable cars provide easy access to 11 km of perfectly groomed slopes at altitudes of up to 2,000 metres, offering plenty of space for parents and their kids in the Tyrolean family ski area of Fendels in Kaunertal. The resort’s own children’s world, “Bibiland”, is set up entirely with our smallest skiers in mind. The pistes and freeride slopes in Fendels in Tyrol provide perfect skiing and snowboarding conditions for all - from beginner to expert. Every Thursday evening, you can also enjoy night skiing. Thanks to the resort’s location, snow is guaranteed. On Thursday evenings from December to March, generous floodlights light up the pistes, offering night skiing to sporting night owls.
